A few years ago I purchased three items at estate sales and secondhand shops that changed my life. One item taught me to see the design in everyday objects. Another introduced me to art in a historical, yet personal way. The third put me in a first-class cabin aboard a 1920s steamship.

This blog is the story of these items and the many, many others that I have discovered since.

What I saw for many years as just objects (stuff!) have become for me little portals–jumping-off points into undiscovered worlds, unknown artists, forgotten designers, hidden treasures, and new experiences. These undercover objects have stories to tell.
